News: Driver hospitalized after train crashes into SUV in Richardson

The vehicle was struck by a northbound DART train on Jackson Street

RICHARDSON, TX - A driver was hospitalized after their vehicle was struck by a Dallas Area Rapid Transit train in Richardson, CBS DFW reports.


The incident took place Tuesday night along the tracks on Jackson Street near Greenville Avenue at about 6:20 p.m. DART officials said the driver of an SUV had gone past the barrier arms at the railroad crossing and the vehicle was struck by an Orange Line train heading northbound from Richardson to Plano.


The driver, who was not identified, was transported to Medical City of Plano Hospital with undisclosed injuries.  DART police and Richardson firefighters responded to the crash scene.


A shuttle bus was set up to transport rail passengers impacted by the incident.
