GARLAND, TX - Two 18-wheelers were involved in a fatal collision on Interstate 30 in Garland early Tuesday morning, authorities said.

According to NBC DFW, one of the trucks that was headed west slammed into another big rig that was parked on the shoulder of the highway near Zion Road at about 4:50 a.m.

The first 18-wheeler caught fire after the wreck, and two people inside were taken to hospitals.  One person was pronounced dead, while the other was listed in stable condition.  No other injuries were reported, and there was no word on whether anyone was inside the truck that was parked.

The incident caused a fuel spill, with hazmat crews dispatched to the scene for the cleanup.  The crash shut down all westbound lanes of I-30 near Zion Road for several hours.
