News: Alleged drunk driver involved in Oak Cliff wreck that killed teen
The accident took place late Tuesday night on Illinois Avenue near South Westmoreland Road.
DALLAS, TX - Dallas police said a suspected drunk driver was involved in a fatal collision in Oak Cliff late Tuesday night.
According to a report by KDFW, two vehicles were going in opposite directions on Illinois Avenue near South Westmoreland Road when the incident took place shortly before midnight.
Police said a 22-year-old man was driving an SUV westbound, crossed over the center median into the eastbound lanes, and struck a vehicle driven by a 16-year-old motorist. The 16-year-old, a student at an area high school, was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead.
The SUV driver was hospitalized with serious injuries, and was expected to be charged with intoxication manslaughter.
