The officer was driving on northbound Spur 408 near West Kiest Boulevard when his SUV was hit by another vehicle.

DALLAS, TX - A car accident that occurred late Tuesday night claimed the life of a Dallas police officer, reports the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

The crash happened on northbound Spur 408 near West Kiest Boulevard shortly before midnight.  Police said the 25-year-old officer was driving to work when his SUV was struck head-on by a sedan that was going in the wrong direction.  The impact pushed the SUV into another lane, where it was hit again by a tractor-trailer and then rolled several times.

The police officer was transported to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead on Wednesday morning.  He had been with the Dallas Police Department since 2019 and was assigned to the Northwest Patrol Division.

Police said the wrong-way driver, who was hospitalized in serious condition, may have been intoxicated at the time of the crash.  The tractor-trailer driver was not injured.
