Jan 12, 2023

Police said the driver of a Ford F-150 sideswiped a Dodge Ram 1500 on I-20 east near Collins Street.

ARLINGTON, TX - A collision between two vehicles in Arlington early Sunday morning left one of the drivers dead, police said.

It happened on Interstate 20 east near Collins Street, according to KDFW.  Investigators said a woman driving a Ford F-150 pickup was weaving in and out of the eastbound lanes at about 2 a.m. and sideswiped a Dodge Ram 1500.  As a result of the impact, the Ford spun into the center median, rolled multiple times and wound up on its side.

The driver of the Ford, a 62-year-old woman, was thrown from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. Her passenger, a 47-year-old man, was seriously injured and transported to the hospital.  Neither person was wearing a seat belt, police said.

The two occupants of the Dodge were not seriously injured in the crash, and there were no charges against the Dodge driver.

Investigators believe alcohol may have been a contributing factor in the wreck, which shut down lanes through the area.
