CRANDALL, TX - Police said a teenager on a bicycle died following a collision with a vehicle in Kaufman County on Tuesday evening.

According to a report by KDFW, the victim was among a group of juveniles riding their bikes on northbound FM 741 in Crandall at about 6:30 p.m.

They were attempting to cross a bridge between Thelma Lane and Griffin Lane when two of the juveniles who were together on one bike were struck by a car.  A 14-year-old boy who was riding on the bike's back pegs was pronounced dead at the scene.

The child who had been pedaling that bicycle sustained injuries that were not life-threatening.  Members of the group told police they had thought they could get across the bridge before they were reached by the approaching vehicle.
