The driver of an SUV crashed in the 12200 block of Greenville Avenue in Dallas while fleeing police.

GARLAND, TX - Police said a driver who fled from an attempted traffic stop in Garland was involved in a fatal crash on Saturday night.

A report by CBS DFW stated that just after 10 p.m., Garland police tried to pull over a white SUV that had been linked to several armed burglaries.  Authorities said the driver, 18-year-old Joey William Jarvis of Dallas, refused to stop and took off in the direction of Dallas.

After evading pursuing officers Jarvis eventually lost control of the SUV in the 12200 block of Greenville Avenue in Dallas.  When he overcorrected, the vehicle rolled over.  One passenger was killed in the wreck while two others were injured and hospitalized.

Jarvis and another passenger attempted to flee the scene on foot but were apprehended, according to police.  Jarvis now faces multiple charges, including detention causing serious bodily injury and evading arrest.  He was taken to the Garland Jail.
