News: Crash in Lewisville involving alleged drunk driver leaves 2 injured

Officials said two vehicles were racing when they collided in the southbound lanes of the Sam Rayburn Tollway near Standridge Drive. 

LEWISVILLE, TX - Two people were hospitalized following a crash in Lewisville Wednesday night involving an alleged drunk driver, authorities said.


The Texas Department of Public Safety confirmed details of the incident to NBC DFW, which reports it happened on the southbound lanes of the Sam Rayburn Tollway near Standridge Drive.


According to Texas DPS, two cars were racing on the tollway at about 9:35 p.m. and collided.  One of the cars rolled over, while a third vehicle was struck from behind.


The driver of one of the racing vehicles, a 27-year-old man, was arrested on multiple charges, including intoxication assault and was lodged in the Denton County Jail.  Two people in the car that rolled over were taken to hospitals in Plane.  One of them, a 30-year-old man, was critically injured while the other, a 43-year-old man, was reported in stable condition.   The driver of the third car was treated and released.


An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
