Dec 01, 2022

The driver of a Dodge Charger hit a pickup and then a pole at the intersection of S. Greenville Avenue and Centennial Boulevard.

RICHARDSON, TX - Authorities said a driver who tried to evade police officers was killed in a car accident in Richardson Wednesday night that injured another driver.

The Dallas Morning News reports that the driver of a Dodge Charger was initially stopped by police officers in Garland on W. Walnut Street at about 10 p.m.  Garland police said the officers made contact with the vehicle's occupants but the driver took off.

Officers briefly pursued the Dodge but they slowed down and then lost sight of the vehicle because the driver was going at such high speed.

The Dodge eventually hit a pickup truck several minutes later before colliding with a pole in the area of S. Greenville Avenue and Centennial Boulevard in Richardson.  The driver, a 25-year-old Dallas man, was pronounced dead after being taken to an area hospital.  The pickup truck driver and the other occupants of the Dodge sustained minor injuries.
