News: Driver killed when car goes off I-30 in Arlington after racing

The accident happened Sunday when a car crashed on I-30 and went into a body of water.

ARLINGTON, TX - Police said a driver who was apparently racing with another vehicle was involved in a fatal wreck in Arlington Sunday afternoon.


According to KDFW, the driver of an Infiniti sedan lost control of the vehicle as he appeared to be racing with an Audi on Interstate 30 at about 5:15 p.m.  The Infiniti went off the roadway and down an embankment before ending up in a body of water under I-30.


Divers with the Arlington Fire Department extricated two people from the car.  The man who was driving, age 27, was pronounced dead at the scene while a 22-year-old passenger was hospitalized in critical condition.


The driver of the Audi, a 23-year-old man, was arrested and charged with racing on a highway causing serious bodily injury/death.
